Yvonne
Thompson
Mar 12, 1955 — Jul 21, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and profound appreciation for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Yvonne Thompson, beloved wife, mother, and cherished friend, who peacefully departed this world on July 21, 2026, at her home in Aurora, IL. Born on March 12, 1955, in England, Yvonne was the devoted daughter of Robert and Kathleen Harverson, who predeceased her. She leaves behind her loving husband, Carey Thompson, and her treasured son, Xavier Thompson who were the light of her life and her greatest accomplishment, respectively.
Yvonne's journey began in North London, where she was the only child of her parents. Her father, an electrician, often envisioned a son to carry on his craft. However, Yvonne, with her determined spirit and inquisitive mind, became a deft hand at working with tools and electricity, proving that she could excel in whatever she set her mind to. She attended Southgate Secondary School in London, England. Her artistic talents blossomed in London as well, where she became a renowned window display artist for Mappin and Webb Jewelers of the Asprey Group, official Crown Jeweler of the United Kingdom.
Love brought Yvonne to America, where she continued to share her artistic flair and organizational talents as the Business Manager of the DuPage Art League in Wheaton, IL. Her creativity and dedication to the arts left a lasting impression on colleagues and patrons alike, winning several merit awards for her photography, paintings, fused glass jewellery, and figurines. Yvonne's entrepreneurial mindset led her to create Swimming Goat Productions LLC, to help expand her art brand. Her artwork has been enjoyed by many, and has even made bespoke pieces for rock musician Rick Springfield (pictured with Yvonne's friend Nancy below.) Beyond her professional endeavors, Yvonne was known as the neighborhood dog and cat whisperer, offering her gentle and expert care to any stray or errant animals that came her way.
A faithful parishioner of the Holy Angels Catholic Church in Aurora, IL, Yvonne's life was a testament to her unwavering faith and her commitment to her family and community. Her kindness, humility, and boundless love touched the lives of all who knew her, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of friends and family alike.
Those who wish to honor Yvonne's memory are encouraged to make a donation to a charity of their choice, reflecting her generous spirit and dedication to helping others.
Yvonne Thompson will be remembered for her vibrant creativity, her nurturing spirit, and her deep love for her family. Her legacy will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her, and her memory will remain forever in our hearts.
