WILLIAM J. RICHMOND JR. March 1, 1953 - February 15, 2016 William John Richmond Jr., 62, of Sheridan passed Monday Morning, February 15, 2016 at his home. Bill was born March 1, 1953 in Aurora to William & Iona (Young) Richmond Sr. He was a 1971 graduate of West Aurora High School. He married Janice Fox December 10, 1984 in Geneva. He was a truck driver out of Teamsters Local #673 and had driven many years for the Mil-Ron Trucking Co. in Plainfield. Bill's passion for drag racing started when he was in his teens, racing his Chevelle at the Oswego Drag Strip in the 1970's as well as many back road races that were instigated in the Sear's parking lot on Lake St. in Aurora after a gathering with fellow gear heads. He was especially proud to teach his family the basics of bracket racing & had built his wife her own car. They both raced at many dragstrips in the area and for many years they mostly raced for points at the Byron Dragstrip. He was an accomplished engine builder and those engines can be heard in race cars all over the area. He was a true lover of animals & shared his life with any pet his family felt they needed. Bill was also a history buff & loved anything about WWII and submarines. Of all things, there was nothing he wouldn't do for his family. He is survived by his wife, Janice; his four daughters, Jessica (Eric) McFarland of Oklahoma City, OK, Bridget Dishman of Norman, OK, Madeline (Roger) Wieland of Earlville, Jocelyn Richmond of Ottawa; his two sons, William (Genevieve) Richmond III of Seattle, WA, Ryan (Jacqui) VanRiper of Plattville; nine grandchildren; his two sisters, Kathryn Jean (Jack) Olson of Austin, TX, Sandra Richmond of Plano; two step-brothers, Ray Pozzi of Soldiers Grove, WI. and Mark (Debra) Pozzi of Cornucopia, WI. He was preceded in death by his parents. The arrangements for donating his body to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois were entrusted to the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Sheridan. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be directed to the family. For more information & to leave a condolence visit Dunnfamilyfuneralhome.com
