William C. "Bill" Lockhart of Yorkville, IL. departed this Earth on Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
He leaves behind his wife of 58 years, Nancy; their five children: John, Patrick, Lisa, Bill and Gillian; four granddaughters: Olivia, Victoria, Grace and Charlotte; and a sister, Jeanne.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, John and Robert, and his sister, Marie.
Born in Philadelphia, PA, in 1937, Bill grew up in Maple Shade, NJ. He served 6 years in the Army National Guard, was employed at the Reading Railroad and subsequently the Santa Fe. He eventually retired from Diageo North America, having worked 33 years as Traffic Manager at the Plainfield facility.
Bill's legacy is that of a hardworking, quiet man, generous and cheerful. He loved the outdoors, especially during his years volunteering for the Boy Scouts. Bill was grateful to have traveled extensively. In his retirement, he became an avid reader and continued the hobbies of model trains, carpentry and gardening. He was an NFL fan and especially fond of Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream.
The year previous to his death, Bill was uplifted by the dear people of the Lighthouse program at the Oswego Senior Center.
Funeral arrangements are private.
A memorial service is in the planning.
