William H. Kirchner

William H. Kirchner, lovingly known as "Bill" to many and affectionately called "Dad," "Grandpa," "Grandfather," and "G-Pampa" by his family, passed away peacefully on July 9, 2026, at the age of 98.

Born on January 19, 1928, Bill lived a long life marked by service, hard work, faith, and devotion to his family. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine during the World War II era, a commitment to duty that remained a source of pride throughout his life. Following his military service, Bill enjoyed a long career as a Chicago Union Carpenter Local #58, where he was known for his skill, strong work ethic, and dedication to his craft.

Bill was a devoted Catholic whose faith guided him throughout his life. He found strength in his beliefs and valued family above all else. Bill was a man of deep faith and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus, where he enjoyed fellowship and service to his church and community.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Dorothy Kirchner; his parents, George and Olga Kirchner; and his son, Michael Kirchner.

Bill is survived by his sons, John Kirchner (Bonnie), David Kirchner (Cathi), and James Kirchner (Julie). He also leaves behind his nine cherished grandchildren: Austin, Avery, Forrest, Mackenzie (Troy), Chase, Carson, Michael (Vanessa), Marissa, and Marshall, and his treasured great-granddaughter,Calia.

Bill will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, steadfast faith, and the values he instilled in those who knew and loved him. His legacy lives on through the generations of family who will forever cherish his love, resilience, and example.

May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with Dorothy and all those who went before him, embraced in the loving arms of God.

On Firday, July 31, 2026, a Funeral Mass Celebrating Bill's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Anne Catholic Church 551 Boulder Hill Pass Oswego, Illinois. Inurnment will be private at Maryhill Catholic Cemetery Niles, IL where full military honor will be conducted under the auspices of the United State Marine Corps.
