William E. Barnett, 90, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015 in Yorkville, IL. He was born on September 6, 1925 in Sweetwater, Tennessee to the late William L. and Bessie (nee Gunter) Barnett. He proudly served his country in the United States Army in G Company, the 119th Infantry Regiment 30th Division during World War II. He received a Bronze Star for his actions in the European Theatre. After the war, he married Ruby J. Green on November 2, 1946 in Sweetwater, TN. During his life he worked as a tool and die maker for Caterpillar in Aurora and retired after 30 years in 1989. William was a member of the First Baptist Church in Aurora, Lifetime member and a past Master Mason of Masonic Lodge #254. He was also a member of American Legion Post #675, VFW Post #7452. He is survived by his wife Ruby; sons William D. Barnett of Montgomery and Douglas (Cindy) Barnett of Yorkville; grandchildren Melissa (Anthony) Marshall of North Carolina, Corey D. Barnett of San Antonio, TX; great-grandchild Mason Marshall; and a sister Janice Lovell of Rossville, Georgia. William was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter Constance Diane Barnett, a sister Bonnie Boring, and a brother George Barnett. Visitation will be on Thursday, December 17, 2015 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, Illinois, 60543. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.on Friday, December 18, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora.
