William Fred Baumann, AFD, Ret., 94, of Aurora, IL passed away on Monday, September 2, 2024, at AccentCare Hospice in Naperville, IL.

He was born December 6, 1929, in Aurora, IL, the son of the late William A and Marie (Jahn) Baumann.

He was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church where he had gone to grade school and church. He served his country honorably with the US Coast Guard. He retired as a Captain from the Aurora Fire Department where he had served for 26 years, was also the President of the Aurora Firefighters Union, and Vice President of the Firefighters Union North District of the State of Illinois.. He was a loyal fan of East Aurora High School sports and was the oldest living season ticket holder for 57 years for EAHS basketball. He and his wife Faith enjoyed retirement in Mackinaw City, MI surrounded by family and friends.

Bill is survived by five children Bill (Teri) Baumann, Mike (Martha) Baumann, Cheryl (Jim) Johnson, Jeff Baumann, Marie Stevens, nine grandchildren Carl (Laura), Kelly (Ondre) Katherine, Jim, Wade (Caitlyn), John (Cari), David (Rachel), Brittany, Brandon, fourteen great grandchildren Luca, Liam, Emma, Jacey, Juliette, and William, Gracelyn, Kasey, Elijah, Logan, Odette, Archer, Harrison, Adelene, also several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by parents, wife Faith (Ranville) Baumann (whom he married on August 25, 1951) granddaughter Leslie, three brothers Robert, Ralph and Roy Baumann .

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 9:30 AM until the memorial service at 11:00 AM at St Paul Lutheran Church, 85 S Constitution Drive, Aurora, IL. Cremation was accorded the wish of the family.
