Wesley Charles Hughes, 90, passed away on July 9, 2022 at Park Pointe Healthcare Center in Morris, Illinois. He was born on April 23, 1932 in Fox Township, Kendall County, Illinois. Wesley was the son of Wayne and Sadie (Sleezer) Hughes. Wesley proudly served in the US Army from 1953 to 1955. Wesley and his family operated a dairy farm in Newark for many years. In his retirement from farming, Wesley could be found all around Newark and the surrounding area, riding his bicycle on the roads and paths. Mary Virginia and Wesley Hughes established a scholarship with the Aurora Foundation for qualified students who graduate from a high school in Kendall County, Illinois and who elect to pursue a major in the subject of agriculture. He is survived by many cousins and friends. Wesley was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Mary Virginia Hughes. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM until a funeral service at 11:30 AM at GABEL-DUNN FUNERAL HOME, 102 S. Johnson Street, Newark, IL 60541. Pastor Sharon Engert of Millbrook United Methodist Church will officiate the service. Burial will follow at the Millington-Newark Cemetery in Millington, IL.
