Wayne Decker, 66, of rural Sheridan passed surrounded by his family Saturday evening, October 22, 2016 at his home.
Wayne was born March 24, 1950 in Sheridan to Alva & Hallie (Meredith) Decker. He was a 1969 graduate of Serena High School. Wayne then served in the US Navy during the Viet Nam War from 1969 – 1973. He married Marilyn (Neitzer) August 24, 1974 in Plano. He was a master carpenter, working for Signature Stairs in Sandwich. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Sandwich. Wayne had lead a full life and enjoyed all the time he spent with his family, especially fishing with his grandchildren and going to their sporting events. He was known as a BBQ Master and looked forward to arranging the family reunions. He was an active antiqueer and traveler. He traveled to the Kentucky Derby, Ireland and several cruises with his wife Marilyn.
He is survived by his wife Marilyn Decker; his three sons, Cory Decker of Sheridan, Shane (Holly) Decker of Serena, Derek (Amber) Decker of Talbott, TN.; his seven grandchildren, Kiley, Tyler, Dylan, GraceLynn, Shane, Eric, Skylar; his three sisters, Louise Witten of New Albany, IN. Nina (Steve) Ayers of Sheridan, Phyllis (Rick) Tirevold of Watson, IL. two brothers, Dave (Barb) Meredith of Sheridan and Ron (Jackie) Decker of Bolivar, Mo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 27th from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Sheridan. Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. with Pastor David Kaul officiating. Interment will at the Elerding Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cory Decker, Shane Decker, Derek Decker, Rick Neitzer, Mike Neitzer, Ryan Orr, Bryan Meyer and James George.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tyler Decker and Dylan Decker.
