Waltraud B. "Trudy" Pfeifer (nee Leukert) died December 30th, 2021, after a sudden illness.
Trudy was married to Joseph E. Pfeifer for 59 years until his death on January 24th, 2020.
She was a loving mother to Anita Simmons, Karen Pfeifer, Heidi (Bill) Simpson, and Joe (Sherri) Pfeifer. She was Oma to her only granddaughter Emma Pfeifer and cherished every moment they spent together- most recently baking Christmas cookies and sharing the secrets to Oma's famous mashed potatoes at Thanksgiving.
Trudy was born on July 21, 1933, to Heinrich and Elisabeth Leukert in Schönwald, Sudetenland. At the end of WWII, her family was forced from their homeland and settled in Mörnsheim, Germany. At age 18, Waltraud boarded a ship to emigrate to America like her sister Elsa had done 3 months earlier. Knowing no English, the sisters took their separate voyages in 1952 to help support their family still in Germany. The family of 9 was reunited in St. Louis, MO on Thanksgiving, 1955.
Trudy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Joseph, sister Elsa Trivundza, and her brothers and their wives Helmut (Janet) Leukert and Gerold (Rosa) Leukert, as well as brothers-in-law Ludwig Eder and Otto Allmendinger.
In addition to her children and grandchild, Trudy is survived by sisters Gerlinde Allmendinger, Irma Eder, and Erika (Gary) Allen along with 12 nieces and nephews and their families.
