Mildred H. Walters, 91, of Ottawa formerly of Sheridan died Sunday, November 2, 2014 at the Ottawa Pavilion. Mildred was born March 13, 1923 in Thebes, IL., to Jesse & Eva (Hunsaker) Moore. She served as a Corporal in the US Women's Army Corp during WWII. She married Edward G. Walters in 1946. Edward passed October 6, 1988. She had retired from the CTS Knights Co. in Sandwich. She was a member of the Sheridan United Methodist Church, Sheridan American Legion Post #729, Sandwich V.F.W. Post #1986 and Sandwich Women of the Moose Lodge #1059. She is survived by a son, Edward (Dixie) Walters of Villa Ridge, IL.; five daughters, Lawanda (James) Clutts of Roxana, IL., Patricia Dougherty of Sheridan, Rita (Chuck) Tombaugh of Ottawa, Eva (Patrick) Markey of Ottawa, Bobbie (Jeff) Jackson of Tennessee; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-one great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Edward; a daughter Monty Walters-Aldridge; four grandsons, Glenn Walters, Steven Clutts, Chad Balocchi, Edward Aldridge; one great grandson, Kaden Rogers and a sister Eunice Beasley of Thebes. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, November 4th at the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd in Sheridan. A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Hyo Sun Oh officiating at the funeral home. Interment of cremains will be at a later date at the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis. Memorials may be directed to the Sheridan Volunteer Fire Department.
