Kenneth G. Walper, age 72, of Oswego, IL, passed away at his home on Saturday, April 26, 2014. He was born on January 12, 1942 in Oswego, IL, the son of Arthur and Pansy nee Shoger Walper. Ken proudly served in the US Navy from 1959 to 1965 aboard the USS Gilmore. Most of his adult life he was an auto mechanic. Ken was an Oswego resident almost his entire life. He was a fun loving guy, and leaves behind many friends. He was a member of the Oswego American Legion Post 675 and the Montgomery Veterans Association. He is survived by his son Todd (Tracy) Walper of Dunlap, IL, daughter Stephanie Boehmke of Chicago, IL, granddaughters Taylor and Kaylee Walper of Dunlap, IL, sisters Jessie (Mick) Schillinger of Eddyville, IL, LuAnn Nelson of Montgomery, IL, Sharon Todd of Euless, TX, brothers Dennis Walper of Plano, IL, Henry Walper of Montgomery, IL, many nieces and nephews and three very special people: Barb Mizel, Joan Gierden and Ron Kline. He was preceded in death by his parents, step-mother Caroline Walper, sister Dorothy Houghtby, brothers Bob, Don, David and Jack Walper, sister-in-laws Joann Walper, Ruth Walper and nephew Brad Walper. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 from 9:00 to 11:00 AM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. Funeral services and burial at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery will be private.
