Vonda Gayle (Austill) Walker Vonda Walker, 81, passed away peacefully at her home in Lisbon, IL Tuesday October 3rd, 2017. Vonda was born Vonda Gayle Austill in Warrick County,Indiana on January 7th 1936 to Ora and Alberta (Patmore) Austill. She graduated from Serena High School and attended Joliet Junior College. She raised her five children in Lisbon and was very active in the Lisbon Bethlehem Lutheran Church throughout the years. Vonda was a Lisbon Happy Helpers 4-H Leader, Lisbon Village Clerk, Lisbon Labor Day Chairperson, and an Election Judge for many years. She served her church faithfully holding offices in Ladies Aid, Luther League, Family Mission, Sunday School Teacher, and Sunday School Superintendent. Vonda worked in the administrative office of Morris Hospital for many years and retired from Lakewood Nursing Center in Plainfield, IL. Vonda was young at heart and a very active woman. She loved playing with her grandchildren. Also, loving to read and write, it was her dream to have one of her stories published one day. Vonda loved baseball and her favorite team was the Chicago Cubs. To her delight she watched them win the 2016 World Series. Vonda loved her family and was ready to help when called upon. Vonda's best friend was her Dachshund Daphne. Daphne brought her great joy and was by her side when she passed. Vonda is survived by her four children, Nels (Sandy) Walker of Booneville, IN, Sherri (Steve) Spangler of Seneca, IL, Debbie (Steve) Brykczynski of Newark, IL, Robert (Bob) Walker of Lisbon, IL, Peggy Walker of Lisbon, IL, her sisters Kaye Clifford of Wayne City, IL, Sharolyn (Tom) O'Brien of Ogdensburg, NY, and Deanna (Jerry) Shaw of Somonauk, IL, her grandchildren, Robert (Jeris) Walker, Rebecca Walker, Amy (Darin) Condon, Erik (Joan) Spangler, Crystal (Lloyd) Walker, Jennifer Walker, Jason Walker, Tonya (Brian) Funk, Jake Walker, Brandon (Sheryl) Partridge, Ashley (Rob) McGrath, Katie (Chris) Voigts, Abby (Matt) Winke, Brandy Johnson, Justin Walker, Gayle Walker, Khristofer Walker, and Jake Walker. She is also survived by 35 great grand children. Vonda was proceeded in death by her parents, one son, Thomas Walker, a grandson, Adam Walker, brothers, Jerry Austill, Dean Austill, Lonnie(Loretta) Austill, sisters, Karen Austill, Sue(Tom) MacDonald,and Joan (Larry) Krog. Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Robert Walker, Erik Spangler, Brandon Partridge, Jason Walker, Jake Walker, Justin Walker There will be a gathering of friends and family to celebrate Vonda's life on Friday October 13th, 2017 from 4:00-7:00pm at Newark Lutheran Church. Memorial service to follow at 7:00pm. Private family burial at the Sheridan Cemetery , Saturday October 14th at 10:00am. Arrangements made through Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home, Newark IL.
