Virginia Mae Vest, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at the age of 94, in Montgomery, Illinois. Born on May 31, 1931, in St. Joseph, Missouri, Virginia was the cherished daughter of Charles and Myrtle (née Cunningham) James.

Throughout her life, Virginia embodied the spirit of warmth and resilience. She was a dedicated mother to her five children: Cris (Dan) Nelson, Marlene Harris, Marty Waitkoss, and Dianne (Jeff) Does. Virginia poured her heart into raising her children, instilling in them the values of love, kindness, and perseverance. Her legacy continues through them and her adored grandchildren: Paul Waitkoss, Jason (Jill) Waitkoss, Aubrey (Joe) Potrawski, Janel (Shawn) Lawrence, Kaily DeBlock, Kyle Harris, Allison Humphreys, Ashley (Andrew) Hughes, Kami (Todd) Bryce, Amanda (Dan) Navarro, Derek (Mia) Benedict, and Jesse Waitkoss. Virginia was also blessed with numerous great-grandchildren who brought her immeasurable joy: Nolan, Brendan, Ryan, Brooke, Zachary, Kinslee, Maddox, Ainsley, Beckham, Anistyn, Penelope, Everet, Hudson, Harlow, Rowan, Maeve, Kolby, Kroy, Christopher, and Landon.

Virginia's career journey included her role as a Sales Associate for K-Mart, where she was known for her friendly demeanor and commitment to customer satisfaction. Her ability to connect with people was a testament to her compassionate spirit.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Lonnie, her son Curt Waitkoss, sister Carol Jean, and brothers Charles and Jerry Louis, sons-in-law, Michael Deblock and Russell Harris. The bonds she shared with her family were unbreakable, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Virginia's life was marked by her dedication to her family and her unwavering love for them. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life and was a source of strength and support for her loved ones. Her laughter and kindness will forever echo in the hearts of those she leaves behind.

Virginia Mae Vest will be remembered for her love, devotion, and the countless lives she touched throughout her 94 years. May she rest in peace, surrounded by the love of her family and the memories of a life well-lived.
