Virginia B. nee Thomas Swanson, 93 years of Oswego, IL passed away in Aurora, IL. She was born October 8, 1925, in Aurora, IL the daughter of the late Abner R. and Helen nee Boardman Thomas. She married Carl Swanson, Jr. on July 5, 1946 in Big Rock, IL and they spent 58 happy years together until his passing on November 5, 2004. Virginia was a member for many years of the Oswego Presbyterian church where she sang in the Chancel Chior and was an active member of the Women's Trio who performed in church and at community activities. She was also employed as the Church Secretary at Oswego Presbyterian Church for 32 years. She is survived by her children, Gregory (Joyce) Swanson of Sandwich, IL, Carla Nicholson of Winfield, MO and Jennifer (Thomas) Huston of Clinton, IA, thirteen grandchildren, twenty two great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son Donald Neal Swanson, a daughter Helen Kay Jensen; a brother George B. Thomas, four sisters, Margaret Thomas, Mary Doetchman, Charlotte Wittrup and Roycana Potter-Lett. Visitation will be on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 9:00 AM until the funeral service at 11:00 AM at the Oswego Presbyterian Church 1976 Illinois Route 25 Oswego, IL. Private family burial will be at Lincoln Memorial Park. Memorials may be directed to the Oswego Presbyterian Church 2020 Building Fund or the charity of the donor's choice.
