Virgil Dwayne Duvick, 72, of Newark died Tuesday, April 28, 2015 at his home.
Virgil was born November 14, 1942 in Morris to Ebert & Rosa (Mathre) Duvick. He married Judith Ann Maier September 19, 1964 at the Plano United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Helmar Lutheran Church and had been a church trustee, choir director and recently church custodian. He had served as score & time keeper for 30 years at Newark High School. Virgil loved attending local craft shows and farmers markets where he sold his home made Norwegian baked goods. He was also bowler at the Monday Night Bowling League in Morris.
He is survived by his wife Judy; his two daughters, Christine Duvick of Marseilles, Julie (Larry) Jacobsgaard of Lisbon; his son, David Duvick of Millington; a grandson, Logan Jacobsgaard; three sisters, Caroline (Robert) Gustafson of Cambridge, MN, Ruth Loveless of Haleyville, AL and Myrtle Duvick of Morris.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Ole Duvick, Ralph Duvick and Forrest Duvick.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. till 12:30 p.m. with the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 2nd at the Helmar Lutheran Church with Pastor James Molstre officiating. Interment will be at the Helmar Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Larry Jacobsgaard, Nick Bond, Zack Bond, Scott Cryder, Scott Swenson, Tom Mathre Jr. and Jeff Wiesbrook.
Memorials may be directed to the Helmar Church Food Pantry or the church Family Life Center.
