Violet Ellertson, 93, of Macomb, IL. formerly of Aurora and Naperville, IL. and in retirement of Diamondhead, MS, passed away after a brief illness, on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at the Wesley Village Nursing Home in Macomb.
She was born on March 26, 1922 in Aurora to Axel & Judith (Nelson) Swanson. Violet graduated from West Aurora High School and Copley Hospital School of Nursing. She worked as a registered nurse at Copley and Mooseheart. She married Dean "Diz" Ellertson on July 29, 1942. He preceded her in death on May 13, 2001.
She is survived by a daughter, Sue (Dave) Ruebush of Blandinsville, IL; a son, Dick (Sarah) Ellertson of Gardner, KS; two grandsons, Bob and John (Jill) Ruebush; a step-grandson, Paul Keithley; two great granddaughters, Abby and Emma Ruebush; a sister, Jeanne Rogers; a sister in-law, Julie Swanson; nieces, Judi Monroe White and Janet Swanson Lord and a nephew Jeff Swanson.
Violet was a former active member of the Wesley United Methodist Church of Aurora. She was a current member of the Diamondhead Community Church in Diamondhead, MS. She always enjoyed cooking, entertaining family & friends, playing bridge and getting together with her life-long friends made while her husband was employed at Stephens – Adamson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband and a brother Bob Swanson.
Cremations rites have been accorded. A graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 19th at the Helmar Cemetery in rural Newark, IL.
