Violet Erna (Eisner) Gottfried
Age: 103
Daughter of the late Julius and Bertha (Guenther) Eisner, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 2, 2023. She was born on the South Side of Chicago on April 11, 1920 and moved to Maywood, IL where she met the love of her life, Alexander. They raised their 2 children, James and Dennis in Bellwood, IL and she lived there for over 50 years. She has resided in Oswego, IL for the past 17 years. Violet was an avid gardener and even won a local contest for the way the exterior of her home was so beautifully planted and landscaped. It was her pride and joy. She also loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was the quintessential "grandma" "grams" and "nana" in that she enjoyed spoiling them with her love, affection and knowledge. Her hobbies included sewing, cooking, bowling, Senior clubs, Church and she always had a deck of cards in her hands playing a game of Solitaire the old fashion way. She had the patience of a saint, and a sense of humor like no other. She just made us laugh with her funny antics. In her earlier years, she worked at the American Can Company in Maywood, IL and Reflector Hardware in Melrose Park, IL.
She is survived by her Daughter-in-law, Judith Gottfried and her 7 grandchildren, Michael Gottfried, Keith (Pam) Gottfried, Denise Gottfried, Debra (Eugene) McEvoy, Lorri (Bob) Vanecek, Lynda (Joel) Luckman and Kimberly (Randy) Klawes. She is also survived by her 6 great grandchildren, Jillian Gottfried (Shane), Matthew (Cathryn) McEvoy, Jake McEvoy, Rebecca Vanecek, Ryan Vanecek and Brynn Luckman. She is also survived by her two great-great grandchildren Stanley and Sophia McEvoy as well as many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Alexander, her son Dennis and son James and daughter-in-law Gale (Baker) Gottfried as well as her 8 siblings, Martha, Clara, Elsie, Matilda, Florence, Edwin, Alma and Julius.
Per her request, a celebration of Violet's life will be observed by her immediate family.
