Valheria Gengler, 69, of Yorkville, IL passed away peacefully on May 8, 2024. Val, as she was affectionately called, was born in Monterey Park, CA on August 11, 1954 to Melvin J. and Dorothy A. (Schultz) Prince.

Val worked at several local nuclear power plants, rising to Security Manager before her retirement in 2008.

Val was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She loved spending time with her family, especially during the holidays when she would cook and bake a feast for all. She was an accomplished chef. She made sure to know everyone's favorite dish and loved making it when they visited. Val was her family's confidante and always gave great advice. She adored her family and loved when they would reach out for long conversations.

She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would tell them often that they were the light of her life. Teaching them about anything and everything was her favorite pastime.

Val enjoyed filling every corner of her home with her unique touch through crafting and decorating. She also had a green thumb, which she used to create a beautiful backyard sanctuary. You would often find her in her backyard drinking coffee while watching the birds and the butterflies. She could identify any bird by site or by its call.

Additionally, Val had a fun-loving personality. She enjoyed rooting for the Cubs, sticking her tongue out at someone or jumping out of spaces to give an unexpected scare.

Val looked forward to her yearly vacation in Florida. She loved fishing, especially in the Gulf.

Val will be missed by her loving husband, Randy Gengler; mother, Dorothy Prince; daughters, Karen (Kristopher) Gersch-Meyer, Katina (Rob) Gersch, Dana (Bill) Nourie; son, Bryan Gengler; grandchildren; Carley O'Barr, Jimmy (EV) O'Barr, Devin (Alyssa) Rose, Cody Rose; great-grandchildren, Miles O'Barr and Penelope Rose; brothers, Skip (Mary) Prince, Fred (Marsha) Prince, Brian (Lorna) Prince, David (Cherri) Prince, Tom (Marcy) Gengler; sisters, Kathy (John) Whitehouse, Lynda (John) Baker and several nieces and nephews whom she loved with her whole heart.

She will be welcomed by her father, Melvin J. Prince, grandsons - Anthony (AJ) and Shaun Lynch, beloved niece, Kari Clawson and nephew, Brock Prince.

A private graveside service will be held for family. A Celebration of Life will be hosted at a date to be determined for family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to Mutual Ground.
