Thomas William Holbrook, 88, of Oswego, passed away on September 13, 2021 at Rush Copley Hospital in Aurora.
Born to Jennie Hazel (Kirstein) and Glenn Paul Holbrook in Chicago in 1933.
Thomas attended RB High School in Brookfield, where he was State Qualifier in tennis, before going on to earn his Bachelor's degree from North Central College in Naperville in 1955, and then his MBA at DePaul University in Chicago in 1966.
He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, during which time he met his beloved wife Hilda "Jo" while he was stationed in Georgia. Upon returning home from his service, he was employed at Motorola as a financial analyst from 1959-1978, and was the owner of Holbrook Mushroom Farm.
Thomas was also an active member of his community, serving as Seward Township trustee, committeeman for Seward Township for many years, a Kendall County Board member, the Director of the Department of community services for Kendall/Grundy Counties, and the Kendall County Treasurer from 1990-2002.
When not spending time on his mushroom farm or with his beloved family, Thomas enjoyed sports, especially golf and the Chicago White Sox baseball, of which he was an 80 year fan.
Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Hilda "Jo" Holbrook; his children, Thomas William Holbrook Jr. (Cindy), of Tucson, AZ, Pamela Gegenheimer (Albert), Oswego, IL, and Suzanne Donnelly (Doug), Gardner, IL. He Is also survived by his grandchildren, Stephanie Laclair (Chris), Surprise, AZ, Thomas Holbrook, Joliet, IL, Allison Gegenheimer, Oswego, IL, Amy Boswell (Mark), Plainfield, IL, and Russell Gegenheimer (Alison), Oswego, IL; and his great grandchildren, Linus Laclair, Lily Ward, Harvey Boswell, and Emilia and Cole Gegenheimer. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Glenn Paul Holbrook and Jennie Hazel (Kirstein) Holbrook, and one sister, Sharlene Barnick (Ken).
Visitation will take place on Thursday, September 16, 2021, from 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego IL, 60543. Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 P.M., with burial to follow at Seward Mound Cemetery in Minooka, IL.
