Susan K. (Bass) McGowan, age 66, of Oswego, Illinois, suddenly passed away on Thursday March 24, 2022. Susan is survived by her husband, James McGowan, her 3 children: Kate (Jesus) Camarena, Ryan McGowan, and Kyle McGowan, and her beloved dogs, Frank and Fern. She is also survived by her brother, Mike (Amy) Bass, 4 sister in laws, 5 brother in laws, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bass, her mother, Helen (VanKirk) Bass, and her stepmother, Delores (Kelleher) Bass. Susan and James were married for 45 years, and they were a great example of what true love really means. They traveled when they could and enjoyed each other's company. Susan was always there for her children, reading to them, taking part in classroom activities, sporting events, and traveling. She had a great sense of humor and a lot of patience. After working at Mercy Medical Center for 35 years, she retired and spent most of her days in her sewing room. She was an avid quilter and her work was beautiful. She enjoyed cross-stitch, knitting, scrapbooking, and jewelry-making as well. Susan always had a book nearby. She loved watching Jeopardy every night and competing against her son. Susan was a perfectionist in all she did and enjoyed sharing her creativity with everyone. She learned to play the piano in recent years, taking lessons and then continuing to learn on her own. Susan will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A memorial service will be held at Dunn Family Funeral Home, 1801 S. Douglas Road Oswego, IL 60543, on Sunday April 3, 2022 from 10am - 1pm, with a prayer service from 1pm - 2pm.
