Steven M. "Steve" Fitzsimons, age 65, of Aurora, IL, passed away Saturday, September 17, 2016 in Aurora, IL. He was born March 9, 1951 in Evergreen Park, IL, the son of Charles E. and Maryon D. nee Baker Fitzsimons.
Following his graduation from Western Illinois University, Steve worked as a deputy Sheriff for Kane County for many years and was a member of Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #14. Steve was an active member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Montgomery, IL, having served as an usher, greeter and on the building committee. He was a true sportsman - he enjoyed fishing and hunting. He belonged to Barber Greene Hunting and Fishing Club in Yorkville, IL, Bell Rod Gun Club in northern Illinois and the Aurora Fishing Club. He was a lifetime member of Pheasants Forever.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Sue Fitzsimons of Aurora, IL, son Andy (Bridget) Fitzsimons of Lake in the Hills, IL, daughter Stefanie Fitzsimons of McHenry, IL, grandchildren A.J., Austin and Rhys Fitzsimons of Lake in the Hills, IL, and brothers Mark (Linda) Fitzsimons of MO, David (Polly) Fitzsimons of Matteson, IL, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his faithful black lab Cody.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. An additional visitation will take place on Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 10:00 AM until a funeral service at 11:00 AM at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 63 Fernwood, Montgomery, IL 60538.
