It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Steve May, a beloved husband, amazing father and dependable son.

Steve peacefully entered into God's arms on March 30th after a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family at home.

Steve was born in 1968 and graduated from Yorkville High School in 1986. He embarked on a successful career as a member of the International Association of Bridge, Structural and Ornamental Ironworkers Union Local 393. Starting as an apprentice in 1988, Steve's dedication and hard work led him to become a highly respected Journeyman and Foreman. His brothers admired his vast knowledge and unwavering work ethic.

Known for his love of life and family, Steve's legacy will forever be cherished. He took immense pride in his daughter Cassandra and was deeply in love with his wife of 29 years, Erika. Steve was always ready to lend a helping hand to his family, tackling any job with ease. Whether it was enjoying Six Flags, passionately cheering for the Chicago Bears, tending to his yard, listening to Iron Maiden, playing with his cats, or embarking on long country drives, Steve found joy in the simple pleasures of life. His culinary skills around a grill were renowned. In his retirement, he treasured the time spent visiting Cassandra at college and bonding over assembling intricate puzzles as works of art. Steve's infectious sense of humor will be remembered fondly by those who knew him.

Steve is survived by his mother Alice (Nee Goss) May, his beloved wife Erika (Nee Skrek) May, his loving daughter Cassandra May, and his extended family including siblings Della (Nee Schnell) Walters, Tom (Julie) Schnell, Carol (Jerome) Wheeler, uncles Jerome (Marcia) Goss, and Gregory (JoAnn) Goss. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. Steve was preceded in death by his father James May, maternal grandparents Katherine Goss and Gordon (Ila) Goss, as well as his nephew Kyle Steven Darcy.
