Shirley May Habyan, 94, of Montgomery, IL passed away on Wednesday, January 18, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 23, 1928 in Sheridan, IL, the daughter of Frank and Libby Strothman. Shirley graduated from Aurora East High School in 1946 and from the American Beauty School in 1949. She owned Shirlee's Beauty Salon in Aurora and then owned and operated the Portrait Beauty Salon in Oswego for many years. For the past 50 years she also owned and operated the Electrolysis Clinic in Oswego, where she worked until she was 92 in 2020. She loved and missed her work and all the special clients she had there.

Shirley loved to play euchre. She loved ballroom and country western dancing. She enjoyed her high school friends (The Golden Girls) She just loved people and had so much energy for life.

She was married to Martin Habyan until his death in 1987. They shared a lot of fun years together. After that, she did a lot of traveling, took several cruises, and enjoyed life. She worked hard and was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Great Great Grandmother.

Shirley is survived by her 4 children, Randy (Val) Gengler of Yorkville, IL, Tom (Marcy) Gengler of Des Moines, IA, Kathy (John) Whitehouse of Sugar Grove, IL and Lynda (John) Baker of Anchorage, AK, 9 Grandchildren, Bryan Gengler, Karen Gersch, Katina Gersch, Dana Nourie, Clint (Meghan) Gengler, Dylan (Beatriz) Gengler, Katie (Bruce) Lewis, Lennon (Ben) Zmuda and Jackson Sheedy, 9 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great Great Grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Martin, 4 brothers, John, Arleigh and Harold Erickson and Frank (Bud) Strothman, 2 sisters Pearl (Richard) Mitchell and a twin sister Betty Jean who died at birth, 2 Granddaughters, Jonna Lyn Sheedy and Kari Layne Clawson and 2 great grandsons, Anthony and Shawn Gersch.

Visitation will be held on Monday, January 23, 2023 from 10:00 AM until a funeral service at 12:00 PM (Noon) at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.

Private burial will follow at Elerding Cemetery in Sheridan, IL.
