IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Sharon Lou
Johnson
September 4, 1941 – February 21, 2024
With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of our dearly loved Mom and Grammy, Sharon Johnson. Sharon was born on September 4, 1941 to John and Elizabeth Sullivan at Ingalls Hospital in Harvey, IL and departed this world peacefully on February 21, 2024 at her home in Yorkville, IL. Sharon was Raised in Homewood, IL alongside her brothers, Beaver and Michael. She graduated from Thornton High School and attended Southern Illinois University as an art major. Early on, she worked at International Harvester downtown Chicago and held many positions throughout her career including her most famous as the Meter Maid for the city of Plymouth, IN. She retired in 2008 as the Administrative Assistant to the Plymouth Fire Department after 17 years of service. That same year she moved to Yorkville, IL to be close to her daughter, Sandra Lyn, her son-in-law, Richard, and her two granddaughters, Rebecca and Grace.
Sharon's life was anchored in her family. She was an advocate of animals, volunteering at the Kendall County Humane Society upon her retirement, where she adopted her Chihuahua, Cleo and Tuxedo Cat, Skooter.
She was passionate about her practice of yoga and found peace and grounding with her group. She never missed a class and attended twice a week until the week of her passing. The group and their leader, Neeta, was incredibly special to Sharon and her family thanks them for providing a group of love and support for many years.
Sharon's legacy will continue to resonate in the hearts and minds of those fortunate enough to have known her. Her kindness, integrity, and devotion to her family will be forever cherished. As we celebrate Sharon's life, we carry with us her love of family and friends, her humor and her love of animals.
