Sharon A. (Miller) "Meme" Johnson, 73, of Montgomery passed away peacefully December 15th at Rush-Copley with her husband, Wilbur (Bill) Johnson, and family by her side via facetime.
Sharon was born April 18, 1947 in Aurora, to the late Leonard (Jack) and Catherine (Schmeisser) Miller.
Sharon was a 1965 graduate of East Aurora High School and met with her classmates regularly at Harner's Bakery for class breakfasts. Her and Bill married on September 19, 1987, celebrating 33 years together this year and were always together. Sharon retired, after 34 years, from Burson-Marsteller Public Relations in Chicago, as an Administrative Assistant in December 2017. She loved her job, her co-workers, and her commute into the city every day on the train, where she made so many dear friends over the years that she kept in touch with. Sharon never knew a "stranger".
Sharon loved her family (blood or not) deeply. They were all everything to her and she loved us all unconditionally, always. She was a kind, giving, and caring person to everyone she met. She loved to volunteer, help, and give to others in any way that she could, but mostly through her handy work of knitting or through her Mary Kay. She was an active consultant of 22 years in Sally Moreno's Sensations. She loved her MK sisters, families, and her clients deeply. She looked forward to traveling to Dallas, TX seminar every year and other places filling her heart and mind with positive energy to pass on to others. She lived the Mary Kay way every day. Sharon was recently a part of Sew More Love, making hats and blankets to donate to children of trauma and sexual abuse through the Friends of Kane County Children's Advocate Center. Her passion was to help others.
Over the past 50 years or more Sharon has been an active bowler, Junior Coach, and friend of Parkside Lanes in Montgomery. Bowling with Bill, family, and friends in many leagues over the years, but mostly the Wednesday Night Powder Puffs, where she also served as league President. Bowling has always been a part of her life and she also loved to watch her grandson bowl in college and professionally on TV, as well as always supporting her great-grandson, Mason, in Junior league on Saturdays. While watching or waiting to bowl, you would always find her hands busy knitting something that she was either giving away, donating, or selling at the many craft shows she worked. Sharon also bowled outdoors at the Aurora Turners Club, where she was a lifetime member, with her grandson, Ronnie. She loved to bake cookies and Norwegian pastries passed down from Bill's mother, that she would share with the entire family every holiday and even sent them off to college and college tournaments with her grandson. Sharon loved to travel with Bill, for fastpitch softball to watch John and Shawn, bowling tournaments with her good friends, Toni, Judy, Sandy and Diana, following AJ's bowling career, and would visit her granddaughter, Melissa, in Iowa every fall. She was at every sporting event, plays, and musicals her grandchildren participated in and was everyone's biggest cheerleader. One of her favorite recent trips with Bill and family was to Maine to watch AJ bowl PBA League, where she was on National TV, visiting places she lived and where her daughter, Trish, was born. She enjoyed E-Learning with her great grandchildren during this spring and fall, and spent every afternoon helping them learn and helping her granddaughter. She loved her time babysitting her newest great granddaughter, Liliana, and facetiming with her great grandson, Declan.
Sharon will be missed by so many, but mostly her family. She was a woman of faith and was a member of the Flowing Grace Methodist Church in Aurora (formerly 4th Street Methodist).
