Scott Joseph Williams 1967 – 2021
Scott Joseph Williams, 54, passed away suddenly at his home in Aurora, IL on August 13, 2021. He was born in Rockford, IL on July 13, 1967, the son of Don and Dee (Ryan) Williams. He graduated from Boylan Catholic High School, Rockford, in 1985, then attended Illinois State University where he earned his bachelors degree in finance in 1989 then proceeded to achieve his MBA in 1990 and was elected as Student Regent on the ISU Board of Regents in his last year. Scott was a member of the Sigma Tau Gamma fraternity and was selected national Man of the Year in 1989.
Scott loved sports, whether participating, watching in person or on TV. He was a standout goalie in the Rockford Roadrunners hockey club for many years and was on the 1977-78 A-Squirts team that finished runner-up in the State tournament. At Boylan, he discovered his love for golf, and, in his senior year, he represented Boylan in the state tournament. Golf was a lifelong avocation for Scott, and he achieved three hole-in-ones!
Insurance was his career focus that began in a branch office of MetLife Insurance Company. This led to an executive position at John Hancock Insurance Company where he became Vice President of Sales for Long Term Care (LTC) insurance. He became a self-informed expert on Long Term Care insurance being invited to conduct seminars and provide presentations worldwide. After a distinguished career at John Hancock, he continued to provide LTC consulting services to other companies and was currently associated with a venture capital company, Reframe, developing a new insurance product.
Scott and Tammy were able to travel to many wonderful places both through his company and on their own. They enjoyed seeing the Blackhawks and Bears games in Europe along with the Octoberfest in Germany. They attended the summer Olympics in Atlanta GA and winter Olympics in Torino, Italy. Their favorite vacation sites were St. Maarten, St. Kitts, and Cabo San Lucas especially in the winter!
Scott is survived by his parents, significant other Tammy Mores, sisters Michelle Job and Deanne (Ryan) Meseck; nephews Tyler Meseck and Kyle Job; nieces Molly Meseck and Kendall Job; aunts Mary Ann Myers, Monica Brattlie, Colleen (Maurice) McCormick, Betty Zimpel, Margaret Zweifel, Virginia (Rollie) Peterson, Ann (Ken) Rynes; uncles Robert Williams and Jeff Williams; many cousins. He is also survived by his very special friend Dan Greitzer and his loyal dog, Baxter.
Scott is predeceased by his grandparents Jerry and Mary Williams, Elmer and Florence Ryan; uncles and aunts James (Jeanette) Ryan, Leo (Betty) Ryan, Joseph (Clarice) Ryan, Vincent (Doris) Ryan, Joe Myers, Reg Brattlie, Pam Williams, Don Zimpel, and Ron Zweifel.
A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 am, Thursday, August 19, 2021, at St Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL 60543.
A visitation will be held at the Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory at 1801 South Douglas Rd, Oswego IL 60543, on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Cremation rites accorded with private interment on a later date.
Please, no flowers; however, if you are so inclined, memorials may be made to the family for a memorial in Scott's name on a later date.
