Sally A. Shore, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and faithful member of Abundant life Family Church went to be with the Lord on February 8, 2026, at the age of 76. Born on August 10, 1949, in the charming city of Savannah, Georgia, Sally was the beloved daughter of the late William Oglesby Sr. and Nora Juanita (nee Avant). She was warmly welcomed into a family that would come to treasure her vivacious spirit and boundless generosity. Sally's life was a testament to her dedication to others, a theme that began early in her journey. She pursued her passion for education, earning a Master of Education degree from Georgia Southern College in 1972. Her career as a teacher therapist at the Ogeechee Educational Center in Midville, Georgia, was not merely a job, but a calling. Her empathetic nature and unwavering commitment to her students left an indelible mark on countless young lives, inspiring many to follow in her footsteps.
On June 20, 1981, in her home state of Georgia, Sally married the love of her life, Charlie Shore. Together, they built a loving home filled with laughter and warmth, nurturing a family that would become her proudest achievement. Sally is survived by her devoted husband, Charlie, and their three children: Benjamin Shore, Jana (Ryan) Palumbo, and Jonathon Shore. Her legacy continues through her treasured grandchildren, Michael, Anthony, and Raymond Palumbo, who brought immense joy to her later years. Sally is also survived by her brother, David Oglesby, who shared a bond that was strengthened later in life. Sally left the educational field to become a secretary. She started as the church secretary, then she became the principal of two Christian schools and then ended up as the secretary in the school of Education of Benedictine University where she spent the last 15 years until she retired in 2017.
Though preceded in death by her parents and her brother, William Oglesby II, Sally's spirit lives on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life. Her family and friends remember that infectious laughter would warm the hearts of the people at church. She loved crafting and would make personal birthday cards for everyone she knew. Sally loved flowers, butterflies, serving at the church and her husband's jokes.
Sally's family and fellow workers will remember her as a woman of great wisdom and kindness, always ready with a listening ear and an open heart. She loved nothing more than gathering her family around the dining table, where stories were shared, and bonds were strengthened. Her home was a sanctuary of love and acceptance, and testament to the nurturing environment she so effortlessly cultivated.
In honoring Sally's life, we celebrate a woman who gave selflessly and loved unconditionally. Her legacy is one of compassion, resilience, and an unwavering dedication to her family and church. Sally's memory will forever be cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her. She gives credit and honor to her two mentors throughout the years, Pastor Gene and June Evans from Statesboro New Covenant Church and Pastor Jeff and Christine Miller of Abundant Life Family Church of Aurora
Family and friends may gather on Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 10:00 A.M. until time of memorial service 10:30 A.M. at Abundant Life Family Church 4000 Westbrook Drive Aurora, Illinois 60504. In lieu of flowers memorials in her name to the church would be appreciated. Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY.
