Ryan Alan Mertl, 25 years, of Montgomery, IL died suddenly in a tragic incident on I-88 near DeKalb, IL on Saturday, August 5, 2017. He was born April 1, 1992 in Naperville, IL.
Ryan was a member of the Class of 2010 of Oswego East High School where he participated in football and track. He received a certificate from Westwood College. He was employed by Caliper Co in St Charles, IL as a car transporter. He had also worked as a roofer and at Ryder Trucking. Ryan entered this world a month early on April Fool's Day 1992 and from that time on he was a firecracker! This is how he earned his nickname Flyin Ryan! Ryan loved fishing, camping , 4 wheeling, cooking and eating Mom's food. On his weekends and time off he would go camping with his many friends, loved the outdoors and being a member of the NRA. Ryan was part of a very loving and affectionate family and will be greatly missed by all.
Ryan is survived by his parents John and Jeannie Bloodworth, siblings Ronnie (Danielle), John, Laura, maternal grandparents Walter and Phyllis Knych of Montgomery, IL, paternal grandparents John and Phyllis Bloodworth of Bolingbrook, IL, aunts/uncles Chris (Tina) Richter, Dominic (Deborah) Messina, Walter (Kerry) Knych, Scott (Julie) Guy, Jennifer Bloodworth and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal great grandparents Walter and Martha Knych.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 10, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St Anne Catholic Church 551 Boulder Hill Pass Oswego, IL. Cremation took place at American Crematory.
