Ruth Anne Strope, age 80, of Ottawa IL, passed away peacefully alongside close friends and family, after a courageous battle on December 7th, 2025. She was born on April 3, 1945, Pingree Grove, IL to the late Alfred and Josephine nee Feyereisen Augsburg. Ruth Anne graduated from Waterman High School and attended Northern Illinois University
Ruth Anne was known for her love of horses, her keen sense of humor, and independence. She and her late husband, Jim, were married on July 25, 1970. They built their home in the country where she enjoyed showing her teams of draft horses and made a significant impression on the lives of the horse community around her. She was also a member of Waushee Riders Horseman's club where they would trail ride and attend dances. In Ruth Anne's younger years, she could be found cruising the streets of Aurora in her convertible with the top down in the dead of winter with her best friend, Helen.
Ruth Anne is survived by her nieces and nephew Debra Augsburg, Carol Tellez, Jeanine Augsburg, Judy Leifheit, Barbara Tellez, James Augsburg, and many great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband James Edward Strope, parents Alfred and Josephine (Feyereisen) Augsburg, and her brother Alfred C. Augsburg.
Visitation for Ruth Anne will be held on Monday, December 15, 2025, from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 S. Douglas Road Oswego, Illinois 60543. Interment will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park, Aurora, Illinois.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to WTTW (Window to the World Communications) mailed to their main address 5400 North St. Louis Avenue, Chicago, IL 60625.
