IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth S.
Maxim
February 6, 1928 – January 7, 2024
Our mother, Ruth Maxim, passed away on January 7, 2024, at the age of 95, surrounded by her loved ones.
Ruth was born on February 6, 1928, to Frederick and Louise Schulze in Missouri, and lived there until they moved to Joliet, Illinois. There, she attended Jr. college until she moved to Chicago to attend St. Luke's School of Nursing. She had decided on her nursing career path after the nursing care she was given after surgery, at the age of 4, and never deviated from that path.
While in nursing school, Ruth bent the rules, forming a bond and dating a patient (Bill), who later became her husband of 66 years. She had many wonderful memories of their early years together in Chicago. Later, as they began to expand their family, Ruth and Bill moved to the Aurora area, where they raised their three daughters, which later blessed them with three grandchildren and a great granddaughter. Ruth was an avid sports fan, whether it be football, basketball (shout out to Giannis) or baseball, she loved keeping up with the players and all of the team's statistics.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Bill, daughter Diane Aister, sister Peg DeVol, son-in-law Ed Aister, brother-in-law Arthur DeVol, and grandson Austin Fox.
She is survived by her two daughters, Nancy (Rand) Taylor of Oswego, IL, and Lynn Maxim of Milwaukee, WI, two grandchildren, Leah (Matt) Duvall and Randi (Patrick Warren) Taylor, great granddaughter Hunter Rose Warren, her sister Betty (Ray Hommes) DeClue of Joliet IL, niece Carol (Katy Fox) DeVol of Los Angeles, CA, nephew David (Purva) DeVol of Aurora, IL, and three great nephews Jacob DeVol, Lucas DeVol and Zachary Fox-DeVol. Ruth will be missed dearly by many friends and family.
On behalf of Ruth's family, a special thank you to the entire care team for the kindness and compassion given to Ruth during her stay at Pearl at the Tillers. We know how she enjoyed walks in the hallway and how she loved to tease and laugh with those caring for her – you know who you are.
A private burial will be scheduled at a future date.
Cremation arrangements are under the personal care and direction of the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY. For information, please call 630-554-3888 or visit her memorial page at www.dunnfamilyfuneralhome.com
