RUTH A. FRULAND July 19, 1927 - December 25, 2019 Ruth Ann Fruland, 92, of Newark passed Wednesday morning, December 25, 2019 at her home. Ruth was born July 19, 1927 in Chicago to Charles & Mabel (Kilmer) Lesser. She was joined in marriage to Orven Lowell Fruland on February 23, 1957 in Lombard. Orven passed September 5, 2018. She was a member and had served as secretary of the Newark Lutheran Church. She retired in 2017 as the long-time secretary for Dierzen Welding in Newark. Ruth was very proud of being the first female board member of Newark Grade School District #66. She is survived by her two daughters, Jana (Brad) Eike of Sheridan, Darcy Fruland of Wayland, Missouri; her three grandchildren, Matthew Eike, Kylie Eike, Peyton Eike; her two sisters in-law, Carol (Robert) Nordengren of Kissimmee, Florida, Carol Fruland of Newark; several nieces, nephews and her faithful companion Tommy the cat. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter in infancy; her husband Orven Fruland; a brother in-law, Russell "Smokey" Fruland; a sister in-law, Marvis Fruland; a nephew Robert Fruland and a close cousin, Jeri Logmann. The family wants to extend a loving thank you for her special caregivers, Sue Malmquist, Debra Boyd, Carol Jarmasek, Transitions Hospice team and the Fox Valley Community Services. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – noon on Thursday, January 2, 2020 at the Newark Lutheran Church with the funeral service at noon with Pastor Cliff Hoper officiating. Interment will be at the Millington-Newark Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad Eike, Matthew Eike, Brad Wies, Robert Dierzen, John Dierzen and Erik Olson.
