Ronald A Hessler, Jr., 81 years, of Oswego, IL died Tuesday, June 20, 2017 at Edward Hines, Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, IL. He was born February 10, 1936 in Forest Park, IL the son of the late Ronald A and Myrtle nee Simmons Hessler, Sr.
He served his country honorably with the United States Marine Corp. in Korea where he was in a reconnaissance special force squad at the Chosin Reservoir Campaign. During this time he was wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart and the Silver Star Medal. He was a member of the Oswego American Legion Post #675, Sandwich Moose Lodge #1016, was an avid bowler, golfer and a true fisherman.
He was an owner/operator trucker leasing to several trucking firms in the Chicagoland area.
He is survived by his significant other Joann Campbell, a daughter Lori Anne Hessler of Wauconda, IL, sons Ross (Audrey) Hessler of Wauconda, IL, Glenn (Sandra) Hessler of Lake Villa, IL, James Campbell of Sandwich, IL, Dudley (Annie) Campbell of Scottsdale, AZ, eight grandchildren, three great grandchildren, a brother John (Patti Nolan) Kowalski of Villa Park, IL, also nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by twin brothers in infancy, a brother Fred Hessler, two daughters in laws Karen Hessler, Wendy Campbell and his faithful canine companion Popeye.
Service was private at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL.
