In Loving Memory of Roger VP Anderson Jr.
Roger V.P. Anderson Jr., a resident of Montgomery, IL, passed away on April 15, 2026.
Born on March 14, 1933, in Chicago, IL, Roger was cherished for his kindness and humor.
He will be fondly remembered for the unwavering dedication he showed to his family and
friends.
Roger is survived by his children, Roger (Christa (Richter)) and Ben (Wendy (Hedding)), and
his four grandchildren: Kylie, Colin, Zoe, and Tessa Anderson. He is also survived by his
sister, Margaret DeVan, and her four children. He is also survived by his partner Anita Gass
and her children. Roger was preceded in death by Barbara (Rill), S. Katherine (Baird), and
his grandson, Jaereth Anderson.
Roger began his career serving with the US Army and reached the rank of Sergeant in the
Communications Core. After his discharge, he joined the family insurance agency, B.N.
Anderson & Co., where he worked until retirement. In his free time, Roger enjoyed music -
especially folk and bluegrass - and played the banjo. He pursued hobbies such as
woodworking, HAM radio communications, clock repair, and many others.
During retirement, Roger was involved in volunteer work and staying connected with family.
He was a member of the Lions Club, supporting his local community. Roger moved to
Tennessee to spend time with his sister and her family, embracing the beauty of the Blue
Ridge Mountains and the boating lifestyle. He traveled to Hawaii several times and often
spoke about returning. In 2008, he moved back to Chicago to "come home."
According to Roger's wishes, there will be no memorial service. The family will hold a
private service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to the American Lung
Association.
