Luther Gary Roberts, 72, of Yorkville died Saturday, February 15, 2014 at Seasons Hospice in Naperville. Luther was born April 19, 1941 in New Albany, Mississippi to Loyd & Addie (Rakestraw) Roberts. He married Sandra Harbison July 18, 1961 in Aurora. He had retired as welder for the Caterpillar Tractor Co. in Montgomery and was a member of the West Prairie Worship Center. He is survived by his wife Sandra Roberts: a son Gary Roberts of Yorkville; a granddaughter, Heather (Paul Baker) Roberts; a great granddaughter, Vanessa Null; three brothers, Larry (Kaye) Roberts of North Aurora, Ronnie (Alice) Roberts of Baltimore Park, IL., Donnie (Monwelia) Roberts of Aurora; three sisters, Martha Hannon of Oswego, Rebecca Johnson of Ohio, Brenda Bahr of Oswego; thirteen nephews; five nieces and Thomas Renfrow, a compatriot & confidant. He was preceded in death his parents; and infant son, Terry Roberts; two brothers, James Roberts and Chalmers Roberts. A memorial service with Rev. Don Pounds officiating to celebrate Luther's life will be held at the West Prairie Worship Center, 39W 550 Prairie St., Aurora at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 22, 2014. Interment services were conducted Monday, February 17th at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Bristol. Interment arrangements were entrusted to the Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home Ltd. in Newark.
