Robert Chester Stokes, age 87, of Batavia, IL died peacefully at his residence on Sunday, December 17, 2017. Bob was born January 1, 1930 in St Charles, IL the son of the late Llewellyn and Marguerite B (Lee) Stokes and step-father Arnold Larson.
He served his country honorably during the Korean Connflict in the US Army. He was a member of Batavia Overseas VFW Post #1197, Batavia Moose Lodge #682, Sugar Squares Square Dancing group, Thursday night pool players, avid boater and was a private airplane pilot for many years. He was the owner/operator his own trucking company "Lovable Little Truck Line" in Batavia, IL. Every year he had a Christmas party for family and friends which jammed his house full of people, food, musicians and Christmas carols sung by all.
He is survived by his children Jill (Carlos) Calderon of Aurora, IL, Danny Stokes of Batavia, IL, Judy (Jeff) Jaecks of Sheridan, IL, David Stokes of Batavia, IL, seven grandchildren Marcela Garcia, Christopher and Nicholas Calderon, Brandon Cartwright, Chad Cartwright, Adam Jaecks, Robby Heilman, eleven great grandchildren, sister Betty Joray, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Marion E Stokes.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, December 21, 2017 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev Eric Kennaugh on Friday, December 22, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. Private family burial service with Military Honors by Overseas Batavia VFW will be accorded.
