Robert (Bob) Eugene Skeels, age 78, of Oswego, IL passed away on March 13, 2023 at home in Oswego, IL, surrounded by family.
Bob was born July 25, 1944 in Joliet, Illinois to Robert D. and Geraldine nee Clark Skeels.
After attending West Aurora High School, he joined the U.S. Army where he was stationed in Vietnam maintaining helicopters. After leaving the military, Bob worked at Caterpillar Tractor Company in various departments while earning his Bachelor's degree. He retired from Caterpillar after 45 years as a Sr. Commercial Analyst for the excavator division.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia nee Doran Skeels, children Stacey (Bill) Donnelly, Brian (Pam) Skeels, Shawn (Monica) Skeels, grandchildren Amanda (Cody) Henry, Brendan Donnelly, Emma Donnelly, Carter Skeels, Sarah Skeels, Alyssa Skeels, Jason Skeels and great grandchild Theo Henry and numerous nieces and nephews, along with his sisters-in-law Jamie (Kevin) Driscoll, Martha Doran (Michael Miller) and brother-in-law Paul (Sandy) Doran.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert D. and Geraldine nee Clark Skeels.
Bob loved volunteering and attending his children and grandchildren's activities and events, including baseball, softball, Cub Scouts, school trips, band trips and sporting events. He could be found volunteering wherever there was a need, including St. Anne's Church, PADS, and Kendall County Community Food Pantry. He was also a long-time board member of Winding Waters Community in Oswego and a member of the VFW Post #10094 in Largo, Florida where he enjoyed spending many of his winters. He enjoyed splitting his time with friends and family in both Oswego, Illinois and Largo, Florida.
He was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by all family, friends and those who knew him.
For those wishing to pay their respects, friends may visit from 9-11am on Monday, March 20, 2023 with a service to follow at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
Burial with Military honors will be at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, 20953 W Hoff Road, Elwood, IL at 2:30pm on Monday, March 20, 2023.
