Robert Lynn Knutson, 70, of Des Plaines formerly of rural Yorkville passed Monday evening June 27, 2016 at the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Robert was born October 5, 1945 in Sandwich to Alvin & Audrey (Bagwill) Knutson. After his graduation from Yorkville High School in 1963 he attended Illinois State University. He entered the US Army in 1967 and serving as a Captain in the Korean DMZ until his discharge in 1969. He married Lynn Olson May 27, 1967 at the Newark Lutheran Church He started the Knutson Kitchen & Bath Sales in Barrington and was a salesman for many years. Robert was also a baseball fan, especially his beloved White Sox. He is survived by his wife Lynn; his son, Kristofer (Renee) Knutson of Round Lake Beach; a granddaughter, Aubrey L. Knutson of Round Lake Beach and a sister Judith K. Harwig of Naperville. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, A. Jerry Knutson. Graveside services with military honors were held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, July 2nd at the Millington-Newark Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to the American Lung Assn. or the Newark Lutheran Church.
