Robert Vincent Caffarello, age 86, of Oswego, IL, peacefully passed away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, surrounded by family.

He was born April 27, 1937, in Chicago, IL, the son of the late Rocco and Anna nee Scardina Caffarello.

After proudly serving in the US Army, Robert followed in his father's footsteps and became a typesetter at the Chicago Tribune. It was then when a coworker set him up on a blind date and he met his future wife, Libia.

Robert, who valued the simple things in life, taught his children by example the importance of family, love, acceptance and laughter. He loved camping, card games, history documentaries, late night comedians and family dinners. Above all, his greatest joy in life was family and spending time with his three beloved and treasured grandchildren.

Bob was a proud penny pincher with a generous and empathetic heart. Always putting his family first, he sacrificed so that they could have opportunities not afforded to him. He was both a lion and a lamb. He was our beloved dad.

Robert is survived by his children Brian (Frits van der Schaaf) Caffarello of Seattle, WA, Danielle (Andrew) Boros of Kenilworth, IL, Craig (Sarah) Caffarello of Oswego, IL, Erick Caffarello of Phoenix, AZ, grandchildren Andrew and Julia Boros of Kenilworth, IL, Connor Caffarello of Oswego, IL.

He was preceded in death by his wife Libia Marie Caffarello, daughter Michelle Caffarello and sisters Mary Ann Caffarello and Patty Carrasquillo.

A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2023, from 10:00 AM until a memorial service at 12:00 Noon at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
