Robert D. Aagesen, age 82, of Oswego, IL, peacefully passed away surrounded by the love of his family at his residence on Saturday, January 27, 2024.
He was born March 9, 1941 in Waterman, IL, the son of Arthur and Hazel nee Woods Aagesen.
Robert was a well-known master carpenter, member of Local #1889, who not only built his own home, but helped build homes of many friends. He was a member of Oswego Presbyterian Church, where he served as a deacon for many years. Robert was active with Gideons International, where he found joy while spreading the testament with children throughout the Chicagoland by handing out countless Bibles. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling the world and playing golf not only on his favorite local links, but courses throughout the US and Europe.
He is survived by his wife over 61 years Ruth Aagesen, children Lori (Randy) Redman of Plainfield, IL, Suzanne Aagesen of Clearwater, FL, Denny (Dawn) Aagesen of Oswego, IL, grandchildren Matthew (Amanda) Frederiksen, Michael (Bibi) Frederiksen, Allie (Zach) Freeman, Andrew Aagesen, Alexander Aagesen, Chandler Aagesen, great-grandchildren Hannah, Danika and Rayna Frederiksen, Cooper and Lincoln Freeman and sister-in-law Jane Aagesen of Hinckley, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Anna Ramos and Sonja Young and a brother Arkie Aagesen.
Visitation will be on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
Additional visitation on Friday, February 2, 2024 from 11:00 AM until the funeral service at 12:00 PM (Noon) at Oswego Presbyterian Church, 1976 IL RT 25, Oswego, IL.
