Richard James "Jim" Zwart Jim Zwart passed away peacefully on Monday, October 2nd, 2017. He was born in Madison, South Dakota on January 21, 1928. He served in the Army Air Force in and after World War II. Returning to Aurora, Illinois, he met and married Mary Jane Linden on October 3rd 1947. They would be together until her death in August of 2007. He worked in construction running his own excavating business with his son Rick for many years. Jim was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars, Moose, and American Legion. He is survived by his three children: Richard James (Beaty) Zwart of Oswego, Diane (William) Hawkinson of Simi Valley, California, and Pamela (Lisa Reif) Zwart of Aurora; two grandsons: Matthew (Julie) Hawkinson of Los Angeles, California, and Timothy Hawkinson of New York City; two great grandchildren: Lucian Hawkinson and Chloe Hawkinson of Los Angeles; one sister Louise Kelly of Phoenix, Arizona and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary, his parents, Cornelius and Minnie Zwart, and several brothers and sisters. Jim lived in Aurora and Oswego for many years, and more recently, spent most of his time in Florida. He made many dear friends, in Illinois, Florida, and elsewhere. He enjoyed people and they enjoyed him. He loved to socialize, dance, have parties, and just be with others who meant something to him, both family and friends. Jim leaves behind a legacy of love and friendship. He taught us that family and friends are the most important things we have here on earth. His immeasurable impact will live on as a treasured memory for all who knew and loved him.
