Richard Dean Stickney, age 84, of Yorkville, IL died Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Hillside Nursing Rehabilitation Center in Yorkville, IL. He was born October 2, 1932 in Aurora, IL the son of the late Norman G and Phyllis S (Sadler) Stickney. He served his country honorably with the US Navy with two around the world tours on a destroyer during the Korean Conflict. Prior to his retirement in 1990 he worked for Northern Illinois Gas Co for 35 years. He was a member of the Wheatland Presbyterian Church in Plainfield, IL, the Leon Burson Post 395 American Legion in Plano, IL, the Forty and Eight veteran's organization and he had played in the Roosevelt American Legion Post Band in Aurora, IL. He is survived by his wife of 59 years Jean C (Chaplin)Stickney, two sons Glenn (Kemmy) Stickney of Germantown, WI, Gregg Stickney of Plano, IL, grandchildren Ryne, Sarah, Carlin, Katelyn, Ron, great grandchildren Keegan and Landon. He was also preceded in death by two sisters Patricia Morrisette, Joanne Roderick and one brother Norman. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 from 3:00 PM until a funeral service at 7:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Private family graveside service will be held at the Wheatland Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kendall County Food Pantry 208 Beaver St Yorkville, IL 60560.
