Richard Roy Spraggon, Age 90 of Newark, IL passed away on Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at Houston Hospice, Houston TX. Richard was born in Streator, IL the son of Roy and Bernice (Martin) Spraggon. Richard is survived by his loving wife, Luna (Springsteed); Children, Stanley (Susan) Spraggon and Kenneth Spraggon; Grandchildren, Jessica (Adan), Jacob (Brianna), Benjamin (Molly) and Steven. Also 5 Great Grandchildren. Preceded by his son, Douglas Spraggon (2009); Sister, Marylou; Stepsister, Lucille; Stepbrothers, Larry, Leroy, Melvin and Howard. Richard retired from Caterpillar Tractor after 30 years. He proudly served his country during the Korean War in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the Plano American Legion Post # 395 and previously an active member of the Newark American Legion Post # 459. The wake will be held at Gabel-Dunn Funeral Home, 102 S. Johnson Street, Newark, IL on Friday, June 3, 2022 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Millbrook United Methodist Church, 8360 Co Hwy 1, Millbrook, IL 60536. Visitation will be from 10:30 am. until the time of the Funeral Service with Pastor Sharon Engert officiating. Interment will follow at Millington-Newark Cemetery with Military honors.
