Richard Dean "Jack" Smith, age 55, of Montgomery, IL died after a fearless battle on Friday, December 21, 2018 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. He was born August 7, 1963 in Aurora, IL the son of the late Charles W and Beverly A nee Stiles Smith.
Jack was a member of the Class of 1981 of West Aurora High School, North Campus. He was also a graduate of the Class of 1983 of Morrison Institute of Technology. He went on to work for Cemcon, Ltd as an CAD technician for 20+ years. His coworkers were his much-loved work family and so incredibly helpful during his fight.
In his spare time he bowled with the "Never Say Die" (uh...never say never) bowling team at Parkside Lanes. During these times he achieved two 300 games! Also a member of his "Never Named" poker group and the St George's Citizen Club in Aurora, IL.
He is survived by his wife Julie A nee Stammer Smith, sister Bonnie and husband Kim Nelson, brother Bryan Scott and wife Sharon Smith. His in laws "Julie's Family" Francis and Rose Marie Stammer, four sisters-in-law, Mary (Ron) Smart, Janet Stammer, Lori (Dennis) Hahn, Ruth Kramp, two brothers-in-law, Donald (Debra) Stammer, Patrick (Yasmine) Stammer. He was preceded in death by his sister Tamara Smith, brother Allen Smith, Sr., two brothers-in-law Randy Kramp and Michael Young.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Saturday, December 29, 2018 from 3:00 PM until a time of sharing at 7:00 PM at the DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY 1801 Douglas Road Oswego, IL. Cremation took place at the wish of the family. Attendees are encouraged to dress casually in Chicago sport team's attire. (White Sox attire will be only tolerated!)
Being a fan of the game show Jeopardy! he waited until just after the show ended for that day to leave those that love and will miss him dearly.
