IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard Andrew
Sierzega, Jr.
June 9, 1972 – December 2, 2022
On December 2, 2022, Richard Andrew Sierzega Jr., age 50, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Chicago on June 9, 1972, the son of Richard Andrew Sierzega Sr. and June Kutak.
Rich is survived by his wife and best friend Sarah, "his boys" Andrew and Matthew, mother June, sisters Patricia, Raegn, Andrea, many nieces and nephews, and best buddy Milo.
He grew up in the city of Chicago and was always so proud to be able to call himself a "South Sider". Following High School, he spent the next 25 years as a tradesman painting. He took pride in all of the relationships he built throughout his career and there was not a place he would go where he did not know someone. Whether he knew you or not he could have a conversation with you as if you were the best of friends.
What meant the most to Rich was always his family; wife of 25 years Sarah, sons Andrew and Matthew, and his dog Milo. He was a devout Catholic who enjoyed spending time at church and spreading the word of God to all in his life. If you couldn't find Rich at home he was likely at his happy place in Michigan, hunting, fishing, sitting by the campfire, or working on his list of "projects". He loved the outdoors and was always up for an adventure or a road-trip. Although Rich was faced with many ailments throughout his life, he never let it get him down... You could always find him with a smile on his face, wearing a pair of shorts 365 days a year. He was loved by many, and had an impact on so many lives. We were all so blessed to have him in our lives and he will be forever missed.
He is preceded in death by his father "Punky" and his brother Timothy.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 7, 2022, from 9:00am to 12:00pm at Dunn Funeral Home 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. Following the visitation, at noon, a short service will be held.
Per Rich's wish, he will be buried at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, IL, where he has a large extended family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Juvenile Diabetic Foundation since Rich was a lifelong diabetic and was always pushing for a cure.
