Richard D. Quantz, 65, of rural Sheridan passed Saturday afternoon, July 7, 2018 at Rush-Copley Medical Center.
Richard was born October 30, 1952 in Aurora to James & Daphne (Dubson) Quantz. He was joined in marriage to Jacqueline Graff on January 31, 1981 in Naperville. He had served in the US Navy from Dec, 1972 – Dec, 1976 aboard the USS Carrier Enterprise and was very proud of becoming a Shellback by crossing the equator. He was a member of the USS Enterprise (CVAN/CVN-65) Association and a member of the VFW at large. He had worked 32 years for the Illinois Department of Transportation out of the Naperville & Yorkville yards in highway maintenance until his retirement in 2002. He loved being a terrific grandfather and playmate to his grandchildren, helping his neighbors & friends, tinkering, woodworking and model assembly.
He is survived by his wife, Jacqueline; his parents, James & Daphne Quantz of Newark; his two children, Kathryn Dlugolecki of Aurora, Erin (Bobby) Widner of Yorkville; two grandchildren, Hayden & Emaree; a brother, Tom Quantz of Montgomery; two sisters, Linda Burson of Hinckley; Mary (Roger) Clark of Warrenville and many nieces & nephews.
