Rebecca Coleman Cathey, affectionately called Mama Re, passed away on Saturday, May 16, 2020 at Rush-Copley Medical Center. She was born in Tchula, MS on February 5, 1928, the first child of Morgan and Rebecca Jackson Coleman. She graduated from Penn High School in Chicago, IL. On November 22, 1947 she married the love of her life, House Cathey. To this union four children were born: Patricia, Howard, Robert and Rosemary. Rebecca had a passion for serving people and cooking. She and her husband took that passion and established a soul food restaurant "R&H Family Restaurant". She also loved serving the Lord and was very active in her church, The First Baptist Church of Melrose Park. Rebecca is now reunited with her husband House, parents Morgan and Rebecca and grandson W. Michael. She leaves a legacy of love to her four children, Patricia, Howard, Robert and Rosemary; six grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and one great-great grand-child. One sister, a special cousin/daughter Muriel Bolden and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, her close church family and friends.
