Obituary was lovingly written by his family
Raymond Gerard "Ray" Beil, of Oswego, IL passed away peacefully at home May 15th, 2023 after a long, courageous, and hard fought battle with cancer.
Ray was born August 28,1948 in Long Island City, NY.
Ray joined the army in 1964 at the age of 16 and served until his retirement in 1989. During his time in the Army he fought bravely in the Vietnam War and was an Engineer in Bridge Construction. He later became a Helicopter Crew Chief. Ray met his wife Susan while they were both stationed in California and were married August 27, 1983. Upon military retirement, Ray became a Field Service Technician for hospital equipment companies.
Ray was a joy to be around, and he never met a stranger. His family was his greatest joy in life. Ray loved his garden and fruit trees, and was one of the handiest people you'd ever meet. He was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help fixing something. Always on the go, his family members lovingly and jokingly compared him to the Energizer Bunny.
Ray is preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Josephine Beil, sisters Catherine Davis and Dorothy Marsh, and brothers Michael and Francis Beil.
He is survived by his wife Susan, daughters Jean Wilson (Brian) and Audra Hill (Matthew), sons Mathew (Christina) and Jacob (Nicole) Beil, brothers Edward (Janice), William, and Joseph (Marie) Beil, sisters Jeanette Cavone (Dominick) and Margaret Van Deven, granddaughters Lainey and Taylor Beil as well as several nieces and nephews.
