Phyllis Elizabeth Knych passed away peacefully surrounded by family and went home to Jesus on July 31, 2021 at the age of 77. She was the beloved and devoted wife of Walter for 56 years; wonderful mother to her children Deborah (Dominic) Messina, Walter "Bud" (Kerry) Knych, Jeannie (Jack) Bloodworth, and Tina (Chris) Richter; sister of George (Yolanda) Ringberg and Mary Ellen (Kenny) Rusniak; cherished Grandmother to Ron (Danielle), Ryan, Nicholas, Michael, Anthony, Kristen, Vanessa, John, Laura, Phil (Becca), and Stephen. Great Grandmother to Ava. She was an Aunt and cousin to many and was loved by all. Born in Chicago in 1944 to Rosalie and George Ringberg, she grew up on the South side of Chicago and went to Harper High School. In the summer of 1963, she started dating her future husband. They married in 1965 and started their family. After moving to Bolingbrook, Phyllis was able to stay home and raise her children. She kept the cleanest house, made dinner every day, and was a patient and supportive mom. She loved to dance in the kitchen, drive fast, sing, go to the Dunes and the Casino, and spend time with her Wally, her children, and her grandchildren. Phyllis and Wally moved from Bolingbrook to Montgomery after their children were grown. Visitation will be held Tuesday, August 3, 2021 from 4:00 PM – 8:00 PM at Dunn Family Funeral Home with Crematory, 1801 S. Douglas Rd., Oswego, IL. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Anne Catholic Church, 551 Boulder Hill Pass, Oswego, IL. Fr. John Ouper will officiate. Cremation will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Hospital, the American Cancer Society, or your local animal shelter would be appreciated.
