Peggy Ann Vargas, age 71, passed away peacefully on the evening of Monday June 27, 2022 in Aurora, Illinois, after suffering with early-onset Alzheimer's disease. By her side were her sisters and brothers, son and daughters, and her dog, Buster, who laid faithfully at her side. She was comforted by the sounds of her family chattering around her and holding her hands. Piano music from her grandchildren soothed her via the phone. Peggy is survived by her children Chad (Annie) Vargas, Caprice "Cappy" (Travis) Schupp, Dave Yamakuchi; her grandchildren Julian, Evelyn, Eva, Lila, and Ruby; her siblings Fred Vargas, Dee (Roger) Haith, Molly Barnes, Jim Bondi (widower of Judy Vargas), Nancy (Jim) Coddington, Jesse Vargas, Terry (Mindi) Vargas, and Betty Vargas. She is preceded in death by her mother Dolores "Lola" (John) Bell, sister Judy Vargas, and three siblings in infancy, Lester, Timothy and Jessie. Peggy was a lover of many activities and always ready to try new things. In her life she held many talents and skills: tending bar at Dotty's Bar on the Fox River, running soap factory operations at Dial Inc. in Montgomery, playing in softball leagues, volunteering for the Crisis Line, stealing the show in plays with the Riverfront Playhouse and The Aurora Junior Woman's Club. Peggy always had at least one and usually two dogs in her home - she loved to adopt "pound puppies." Besides being a brave and loving single-parent to her children, Peggy was a seeker of excitement and fun. She hosted large family gatherings at her home, and gave the gift of a big, extended family to her children. Opening her home to family, friends, and friends of friends and providing food was her way of loving. Her laugh will be remembered, as will her practical jokes to her siblings and friends. Her grit and spunk will be honored and live on in her grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday July 8, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm, with a formal tribute at 3:30 pm. Location is Dunn Family Funeral Home, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543.
