Paul Shane Thornsberry, beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on September 3, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication. Born on February 24, 1967, in East Chicago, Indiana, Paul was the cherished son of William and Ima Jean Thornsberry, who predeceased him.

His life was a testament to the values they instilled in him - kindness, resilience, and a deep commitment to family. Paul proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1990 to 1993, a period that shaped him and instilled in him a lifelong appreciation for service and camaraderie.

Following his military service, he found his calling as a respiratory therapist with APRIA Healthcare, where he dedicated his career to improving the lives of those in need.

In 1997, Paul married the love of his life, Renee nee Garcia, and together they built a life filled with adventure, joy, and unwavering support for one another. Their marriage of 29 years was a beacon of love and partnership. Together, they raised their son, Ezekiel Paul Thornsberry, who was the light of Paul's life.

Paul had a zest for life and a wide range of interests that he pursued with passion. He was an avid enthusiast of shooting guns and drag races, often traveling to witness the thrill of the races firsthand. His love for the great outdoors was evident in his frequent hiking trips out west, where he found peace and inspiration in nature's beauty. Motorcycles, golfing, and playing cards were among his favorite pastimes, always enjoyed in the company of family and friends.

Paul's family extended beyond his immediate household to include his dear siblings, Brenda (Larry) Bogner, Vickie (Dave) Sheaks, and Jeff (Nancy) Thornberry. He was a beloved uncle to Kristen (Andy) Warzon, Jenny Sheaks, Kate Timlin, Jen (Milan) Andjelich, Kelly Rose (Kevin) Kingsley, and Daniel Garcia, as well as many great-nieces and great-nephews, all of whom he cherished deeply.

Celebration of Life Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2026, from 4:00 PM until parting words at 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 S. Douglas Road, Oswego, IL 60543. A Celebration of Paul's Life Service will be held at the funeral home on Friday, September 11, 2026, at 1:00 PM. Burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park Cemetery in Aurora, IL.
